Fashion Is Still Fighting

What could be better than shopping while fighting for a cause such as Breast Cancer awareness? Nothing at all!
Well that time of year has come around again where you can do both! Today Breakthrough Breast Cancer have once again launched the ever successful Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
The annual fashion initiative was started by Ralph Lauren in 1994, but has now grown from the classic charity t-shirt, to an extrememly fashionable yet accesible Fashion Targets Breast Cancer collection, inspired by the iconic ‘fashion targets’ black and white logo.
Each piece in the collection has been specially designed by M&S, River Island, Warehouse, Topshop, Coast, Laura Ashley, my-wardrobe.com and bottlegreen, to encapsulate the current S/S 11 fashion trends with prices ranging from £1.50 to £157.
This year the campaign is being fronted by Cat Deeley, Sadie Frost and Karen Gillian. They’re doing their bit so now you can too! Check out some of my favourite pieces from River Island (Bag, top left), Aamaya by Priyanka (ring) and Warehouse (t-shirt).
Me And My Diana F
01/2 2011 Posted in Lifestyle | 0 comments
This Christmas was defininetley one to remember, and not just because I ate more than my body weight in food, but because I got a Diana F camera!
For those who don’t know the Diana is an entirely plastic camera that was created in Hong Kong in the 1960s which sold for no more than a dollar. Not many took to this new camera and it was deemed a complete and utter failure. However, the Diana has risen from the ashes and has returned as the cult favourite of many artists. The shots produced are soft and dreamy with unpredictable blurring and random contrast. You know when you’ve seen a Diana shot because it has a character all its own!
And I have one! I’m super excited! I’ve already used two films as well as a few polaroids and I must say it does take some getting used to but I’m ready for the challenge. Although you can now get the Diana shots instantly using Hipstamatic on the iPhone, there is something incredibly fulfilling about learning about how to create the most beautiful shots using the Diana F.
Like I said, I’m still getting used to mine but as soon as I’ve developed my films, you’ll be the first to know!
What We’re Lovin…Ports 1961

We’re a little bit obsessed with Ports 1961, but it seems we’re not the only ones! Since it’s launch in 2005, Ports 1961 has gained a huge celebrity following with the likes of Eva Longoria and Olivia Palermo wearing their pieces. Here’s a few of our favourite pieces from the new S/S 11 collection.
LFW: Jasper Garvida S/S 11
09/27 2010 Posted in Fashion | 0 comments
We at Lace Magazine absoloutely adore Jasper Garvida and were thrilled to get an invite to his Spring/Summer 11 show at London Fashion Week.
In the past Jasper has created extremely wearable pieces with the upmost amount of femininity and this collection is no different. Inspired by Paris in 1951, Jasper describes the ‘Belle’ collection as ‘the epitome of femininity.’ This incredibly varied collection includes streamlined tailoring, embellished and textured pieces combined with gorgeous softly layered jersey printed pieces and modern pleated ‘ballerina’ skirts. The muted pastels and neutral tones are a throwback to the French impressionist colours which bring a youth and freshness to the collection.
But don’t take our word for it, have a look at some of our pictures from the show.
Fashion Illustration At Its Best

So, I really do love fashion illustration. It’s basically, the beginning of the creation of fashion and what people don’t realise is that there are some seriously talented fashion illustrators out there. One such illustrator is Kat Rogers. Kat is the creator of PaperFashion and this lady is seriously talented. We took 5 minutes to discuss her love of illustration and fashion and this is what she had to say. Also check out some of her amazing illustrations below.
“PaperFashion is a way for me to share illustration and my love for fashion with the world. It’s not so serious… but more about having fun and just enjoying beautiful things

What We’re Loving….Oxfam’s Bookfest Window
I was walking by the Oxfam shop in Victoria and I saw this window which I thought was quite cool. Oxfam are celebrating Bookfest at the moment which is a book festival encouraging people to buy books and the money goes towards Oxfam’s continued work.
The mannequins are covered in pages from books and the little one has been accessorised with a cute necklace.
Pop in and give to a good cause!

The Models Are Back!
Since the beginning of the new year we’ve been seeing a lot of the new ad campaigns for many of fashion’s finest and I’ve noticed something. Although a lot of fuss has been made over the celeb collaborations that will be gracing the inside pages of Vogue and Elle, a lot of fashion’s most beautiful women have reclaimed their statuses as the go to girls for the top ad campaigns.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hey lovelies,
Just a quick note wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you all so much for reading and loving Lace Magazine, you cannot possibly know how much it means to me.
Have an amazing 2011 and make the most of it, I definitely plan to do just that!

What We’re Lovin…Maggie Angus Jewellery
At this cold and depressing time we need something to raise our spirits, good jewellery always does that, especially Maggie Angus!
Maggie Angus is a fun and quirky jewellery line created by Anna Hickman-Evans who named the line after her Scottish grandmother. The current collection was inspired by women’s eternal love affair with shoes and the way that those super gorgeous things on our feet make us feel.
If you want to inject some colour and fun into your jewellery box check out www.maggieangus.com.
Next Generation
I rrecently had the pleasure of attending the American InterContinental University (AIU) London Fashion Show to check the next generation of fashion designers. I was impressed, especially by three designers in particular, Johnny Wang, Kelly Hulderman and Gianni Escalera. Check out some of their pieces below.
