La Clique C’est Chic

We love new talent here at Lace Magazine and talent doesn’t come any newer or fresher than Kwaku Kyei-Darkwah. We’d like to introduce you to him, so we sat down with the bright young thing and CEO of Blue Collar Smart to talk fashion and to find out what exactly is The Clique?

The Models Are Back!

Since the beginning of the new year we’ve been seeing a lot of the new ad campaigns for many of fashion’s finest and I’ve noticed something. Although a lot of fuss has been made over the celeb collaborations that will be gracing the inside pages of Vogue and Elle, a lot of fashion’s most beautiful women have reclaimed their statuses as the go to girls for the top ad campaigns.

If Only We Had An Spare Few Thousand Pounds…

We would happily spend that money dripping ourselves in diamonds, I mean, they are a girls best friend right? This gorgeous Feather Georgina Chapman necklace and Hunter African Ruby ring are perfect!

Maybe someone would like to buy them for us, Christmas is around the corner!

WHO We’re Lovin…John Rocha

While trawling through all the new S/S 11 collections at numerous amounts of press days it can sometimes be difficult to remember everything you’ve seen, they all kinda blur into one giant collection. However, there are a few collections that stand completely alone and therefore do not end up in this collasal heap of clothing in my mind. One of those collections is that of John Rocha. This collection seems to stay away from the bright colours usually used for Spring/Summer and is jam packed full of neutrals, tweed, luxe leathers, structure, hand crotched pieces and hand painted pieces. My personal favourite is the cream cut leather embellished dress (right). Have a look at some of the other pieces of the collection. Whaddya think?

What We’re Lovin…Ports 1961

We’re a little bit obsessed with Ports 1961, but it seems we’re not the only ones! Since it’s launch in 2005, Ports 1961 has gained a huge celebrity following with the likes of Eva Longoria and Olivia Palermo wearing their pieces. Here’s a few of our favourite pieces from the new S/S 11 collection.

LFW: Adam Entwisle S/S 11

So, first of all I just want to say how much I loved the beehive hair at the Adam Entwisle Spring/Summer 11 show! However not as much as I loved the collection. People tend to think that fashion has to be over the top to be fabulous however Entwisle shows that subtle is always chic. The dresses and blouses moved like a dream and the flashes of red and purple were a nice suprise however it did seem to get a little repititive.

Have a look at some of our shots from the show.

LFW: Jasper Garvida S/S 11

We at Lace Magazine absoloutely adore Jasper Garvida and were thrilled to get an invite to his Spring/Summer 11 show at London Fashion Week.

In the past Jasper has created extremely wearable pieces with the upmost amount of femininity and this collection is no different. Inspired by Paris in 1951, Jasper describes the ‘Belle’ collection as ‘the epitome of femininity.’ This incredibly varied collection includes streamlined tailoring, embellished and textured pieces combined with gorgeous softly layered jersey printed pieces and modern pleated ‘ballerina’ skirts. The muted pastels and neutral tones are a throwback to the French impressionist colours which bring a youth and freshness to the collection.

But don’t take our word for it, have a look at some of our pictures from the show.

A Rising Star

While waiting for Lisa Maynard-Atem outside Harrods in London, I start to worry about what we’re actually going to talk about. But after spending less than five minutes with her it’s obvious that we would not be short on conversation, Lisa loves to talk and not necessarily about herself, but about fashion, music, celebrities and anything else in between. It’s a welcome relief to the constant self-promotion of many others in the fashion industry.

Lisa Maynard-Atem is the creator of STYLISA, a styling consultancy that not only caters to all your styling needs but is also entering the world of PR. ‘STYLISA is a bespoke brand that’s out there to help build up other brands,’ Lisa says ‘the business is really evolving and we’re hoping to branch out as far a possible.’ READ MORE
